All applicants and members of a Delaware Volunteer Fire Company who need to obtain a state and federal background check through the Delaware State Bureau of Identification (IdentoGo) must complete the Delaware State Fire Commission application form. Delaware house Bill 411 was signed by Delaware Governor Carney on September 19, 2024. This bill requires mandatory background checks of any member or applicant of a Delaware Volunteer Fire Department, as certified by the Delaware State Fire Commission. Member and or applicant are required to submit a state and federal background check from the State Bureau of Identification to the department which they are a member or an applicant. All applicants applying for membership are required to complete the Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Affidavit Form. The original form must be kept with the applicant’s membership application and a copy be forwarded to the Delaware State Fire Commission. Please see the attached link for further details.
