Ambulance Licensing and Regulations

The Delaware State Fire Commission’s Ambulance Licensing and Regulation Division provides leadership and direction to support the operations and growth of Delaware’s ambulance industry. It aims to protect the health, safety, and welfare of individuals using these services by developing and modifying statewide requirements for both emergency and commercial ambulance services throughout the state of Delaware.

At the conclusion of FY 2024, there were 88 commercial (private) ambulance services and 169 emergency (911) ambulance units that held licenses issued by the Commission.

The division reviews applications for EMS providers and issues permits and licenses for operation. The division also conducts annual and spot inspections to ensure compliance with these regulations.
